Even though Thorvaldsen was a Neo-Classicist sculptor, he had no problem with appreciating a good Romantic painting – especially when its creator was the young, Norwegian landscape painter J.C. Dahl who came to Italy in 1820 after finishing his education at the art academy in Copenhagen. He especially had a weakness for Dahl’s moonlight pieces from the Bay of Naples. No less than 4 night paintings by Dahl in Thorvaldsen’s collection show the view of the Bay towards Vesuvius. This painting shows the beach at Posillipo. The gloomy building to the left is the so-called Scuola di Virgilio, and to the right a rock makes up a typical Romantic prop that with its odd silhouette manages to capture the sensitive onlooker’s imagination. After his trip to Italy, Dahl settled in Dresden where he became a close friend of the famous German, Romantic landscape painter, Caspar David Friedrich.

I produktmenyen kan du velge et materiale og en størrelse du ønsker. Følgende alternativer er tilgjengelige for individualisering:

  • Plakatutskriften (lerretmateriale): A poster print is a UV printed sheet of canvas with a slightly rough structure on the surface. The poster print is ideally suited for putting your art replica in a customized frame. Please keep in mind, that depending on the absolute size of the canvas poster print we add a white margin between 2-6cm round about the print in order to facilitate the framing.
  • Metall (aluminium dibond trykk): An Aluminium Dibond print is a print material with an outstanding effect of depth. A direct Aluminium Dibond Print is the excellent start to prints produced with aluminum. This direct UV print on Aluminum Dibond is the most popular entry-level product and is a modern way to display art prints, since it draws attention on the replica of the artwork.
  • Akrylglassprint (med ekte glassbelegg på toppen): The acrylic glass print, often denoted as a print on plexiglass, will turn your favorite original artwork into décor and forms a great alternative to canvas or dibond prints. The major advantage of a plexiglass art print is that contrasts and also color details will be visible thanks to the fine gradation in the picture. The acrylic glass protects your selected fine art print against sunlight and external influences for up to 60 years.
  • Lerret: The canvas direct print is a printed cotton canvas mounted on a wooden stretcher. A canvas generates the exclusive look of three dimensionality. What is more, canvas print produces a cosy, appealing look. Canvas prints are relatively low in weight. That means, it is easy and straightforward to hang up the Canvas print without the support of additional wall-mounts. Hence, canvas prints are suited for all types of walls.
