Original kunstbeskrivelse som levert av museet (© - Cleveland Museum of Art - Cleveland Museum of Art)

Salome’s dancing so pleased her stepfather Herod that he offered her anything she wanted. Her mother advised Salome to demand John the Baptist’s head, which Salome presented to her family in an elaborate dish. Here, the head stands on its own, with a startlingly tangible presence. Despite its biblical source, this work was meant for a domestic setting, whose owner would have admired the artful presentation of a shocking story. Acquired in 1953 as the work of the Venetian Renaissance artist Titian, the painting soon lost this attribution because it lacks Titian’s distinctive brushwork. After decades of research, the museum has yet to identify a clear author. Recently, several scholars have argued persuasively for a Spanish artist, partly because the subject is common in Spanish art in the early 1600s. Yet the color scheme and the handling of paint in the face recalls the work of earlier artists inspired by Titian in northern Italy.

Bestill varematerialet du ønsker

I rullegardinmenyen for produkt kan du velge din individuelle størrelse og materiale. Følgende alternativer er tilgjengelige for individualisering:

  • Trykt akrylglass (med ekte glassbelegg): The print on acrylic glass, which is often denoted as a plexiglass print, will change your favorite original work of art into beautiful wall décor. The artwork is being manufactured with modern UV direct print machines. With an acrylic glass fine art print contrasts as well as minor details become recognizeable due to the granular tonal gradation of the print.
  • Metall (aluminium dibond trykk): This is a metal print manufactured on aluminium dibond with an impressive depth effect. The non-reflective surface creates a modern look. The Aluminium Dibond Print is the excellent start to art prints produced with aluminum. The bright and white parts of the artwork shimmer with a silk gloss but without the glow.
  • Plakatutskriften på lerretmateriale: De Artprinta poster is a printed flat cotton canvas with a granular surface texture, that reminds the actual version of the masterpiece. Please bear in mind, that depending on the size of the canvas poster print we add a white margin of approximately 2-6 cm round about the painting, which facilitates the framing.
  • Lerretstrykk: A printed canvas, which shall not be confused with a painting on a canvas, is a digital replica printed from a UV direct printing machine. It makes the unique look of three dimensionality. Hanging a canvas print: The great advantage of canvas prints is that they are relatively low in weight, which means that it is quite simple to hang up the Canvas print without the support of additional wall-mounts. Canvas prints are suitable for any type of wall.

Important note: We try all that we can to describe the art products with as many details as we can and to exhibit them visually on the different product detail pages. Still, some pigments of the print materials and the print result can vary somehwat from the representation on the device's screen. Depending on the screen settings and the quality of the surface, color pigments can unfortunately not be printed as realistically as the digital version on this website. In view of the fact that all fine art prints are printed and processed by hand, there may as well be slight deviations in the motif's size and exact position.
