Olje på lerret was used by the North American painter as the technique for the artpiece. Signed lower right: R. Way Smith 82; signed on back of canvas: A Summer Afternoon R. Way Smith 81. was the masterpiece's original inscription. Furthermore, this work of art is part of the art collection of Cleveland Museum of Art.
